Respect religions: Guardiola condemns Leeds fans' booing during players' breakfast

M.A.,
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola expressed his dissatisfaction with Leeds United fans booing during the break in play to allow Muslim players to break their fast.
On Saturday evening, Manchester City beat Leeds United 1-0 in Week 28 of the English Premier League.
Manchester City's away goal came from a strike by Ghanaian Antoine Semenyo before the end of the first half.
The match was briefly stopped in the 13th minute to allow Muslim players to break their fast. However, during this period, which was approved by the Premier League management, boos and jeers were heard from the Leeds United stands.
After the match, Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola commented on the boos during a press conference. He said: "We live in a modern world, don't we? Look at what's happening in the world today. Religions must be respected and diversity must be respected, that's it. This is a regulatory decision, we didn't say it, the English Premier League did. They said: You can give a minute or two for breakfast, do it for the players." Since 2021, the English Premier League has allowed matches to be stopped for a short period during Ramadan to enable Muslim players to break their fast.
