National Traditional Industries Set a Record for Export Transactions

Mustapha Baitas, Minister Delegate for Relations with Parliament and Government Spokesperson, said today, Thursday: Exports of traditional industry products reached a record high of 1.232 billion dirhams in 2025.
In response to a question during a press conference following the Council’s weekly meeting, Mr. Baytas explained that the sector’s exports rose from 792 million dirhams in 2019 to 1.232 billion dirhams in 2025, noting that the United States was the leading importer at 49 percent, and France with 10.5 percent.
He added that the sector contributes to employment by accounting for approximately 20 percent of the workforce, (primarily employing women, with a female workforce of 54 percent), noting that the sector contributes 7 percent to gross domestic product, 7.6 percent to exports, and 10 percent of tourism sector revenue, and employs graduates at an integration rate of 85 percent.
He noted that the government’s social initiatives, particularly those related to health coverage, have benefited traditional artisans, provided them with guarantees to work under better conditions, and fostered a positive, supportive environment for production.
