Morocco is strengthening its role as a strategic partner for the Port of Castellón, located on Spain’s eastern coast, with trade volumes up 50 percent since the start of this year, according to the Port Authority of Castellón.
With 303,844 tons of cargo handled to date, Morocco ranks among the port’s top two trading partners in terms of trade volume. This sustained growth in trade flows reflects a continuous strengthening of economic and logistical ties between the Kingdom and the Mediterranean port hub, according to the same source.
The port authority added that this momentum is attributed, in particular, to the trade missions organized in Morocco, aimed at strengthening ties with shippers and logistics operators and stimulating cargo flows.
Thanks to this performance, Morocco is consolidating its position as a key lever in the Spanish port’s internationalization strategy, demonstrating the effectiveness of initiatives taken to diversify trade and create new economic opportunities.
In this context, Rubén Ibáñez, President of the Port Authority of Castellón, emphasized that this development confirms the relevance of trade missions and their positive impact on the port’s economic activity, highlighting Morocco’s growing role in trade dynamics across the Mediterranean basin.
