The Ministry of Energy Transition and Sustainable Development confirmed that it continues to closely monitor national stockpiles on a daily basis to ensure that national needs are met under the best possible conditions, noting that it will keep the public informed of all relevant developments in line with international circumstances.
In a statement issued Thursday, the Ministry clarified that "the Kingdom of Morocco is closely following the developments in the Middle East, namely the attacks targeting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of several sister Arab nations, and the resulting repercussions affecting a number of sectors, particularly transportation, civil and military infrastructure, digital infrastructure, data centers, and institutions in the banking and insurance sectors, in a context with international dimensions given the close interdependence of economic and financial systems worldwide."
In light of these developments, the statement adds, the Ministry is closely monitoring energy supply chains in light of regional and international developments, noting that available indicators suggest that "the global energy system possesses, in the short term, the necessary elements to absorb shocks and sharp price fluctuations and their potential repercussions on inflation, supported by international coordination mechanisms."
The Ministry also called on all stakeholders to act responsibly and keep the national interest in mind, to work to ensure market stability, and to avoid any practices that could negatively affect citizens’ purchasing power or economic balances.
